Crawl space mold removal in Raleigh, NC

Most Triangle homes sit on a crawl space, and it is the most common place we find mold. Poor ventilation, sweating ducts and standing water raise humidity under the whole floor system. We contain the space, remove affected insulation, treat the framing and dry it until the readings hold. Call (910) 606-6161.

Scope and pricing

What a crawl space mold job includes

  • Moisture inspection to find and confirm the source that fed the growth
  • Containment with poly barriers and negative air so spores do not travel through the house
  • HEPA air scrubbers running inside the work area
  • Removal and bagging of affected drywall, insulation and other porous materials
  • HEPA vacuuming and antimicrobial treatment of framing and surfaces that stay
  • Drying of the area to normal moisture levels before it is closed back up

What we don't do: crawl space encapsulation, dehumidifier installation or drainage work. We remove the mold and the moisture that fed it and dry the space. Keeping it dry long term is a separate scope.

How pricing works

The inspection is free. If the mold came from a sudden water loss that your policy covers, we document it the same way we document the water and bill the carrier directly.

Most mold jobs are paid out of pocket. You get a written scope before we start, and we tell you up front if a detailed written estimate carries a fee.

North Carolina does not license mold remediation. We hold IICRC certification in mold remediation and carry liability insurance.

How it works

Five steps, one point of contact

1

Inspect and find the source

Moisture meters, a thermal camera and a look at where the air and water move. Photos start here.

2

Contain

Poly barriers and negative air around the work area so nothing rides the HVAC into clean rooms.

3

Remove

Affected drywall, insulation and porous materials come out bagged. Framing and hard surfaces get HEPA vacuumed and treated.

4

Dry

Air movers and dehumidifiers bring the area to normal moisture levels, checked with readings, not by feel.

5

Document

Photos, moisture readings and the scope of what came out, for your records or your claim.

Containment stays up until the readings say the area is dry.

Insurance

Does insurance cover mold?

Sometimes. It depends on what caused it, and most policies cap mold coverage.

Mold that grew from a sudden, covered water loss is often covered up to a mold limit written into the policy. Mold from humidity, long-term leaks or deferred maintenance usually is not. We document the source and the moisture so the claim is decided on facts. We cannot promise how a carrier will rule.

We write the estimate in Xactimate, keep daily drying logs and photos, meet the adjuster on site, and bill the carrier directly. How we handle insurance claims

What you do

1. Call us first so the drying starts.
2. Call your carrier and open a claim.
3. Send us the claim number and adjuster name.
We do the rest.

1. Document

We photograph and meter everything before anything moves, so the loss is on record.

2. Call us, then your carrier

Drying starts the same day. You open the claim; we send the estimate and logs.

3. We meet the adjuster

On site, with the Xactimate scope. Direct billing; you pay the deductible.

FAQ

Crawl space mold removal questions

How do I know if my crawl space has mold?

A musty smell in the house, especially in fall, cupping hardwood, allergy symptoms that improve when you leave, or growth you can see on the joists with a flashlight. The inspection is free.

Do you replace the insulation?

We remove insulation and vapor barrier that are contaminated, bag it and list it. Reinstalling new insulation is scoped separately once the space is dry.

Will it come back?

Not if the moisture source is fixed. Humidity control after the remediation is what keeps a crawl space clean, and that is a separate scope from ours.

Do I need to leave the house?

No. The work is under the house, behind containment, with negative air pulling to the outside.

How long does it take?

Most crawl spaces run two to four days on site plus drying time, depending on size and how much insulation comes out.

Do you charge for the inspection?

No. Moisture mapping and a thermal scan are free. If you need a written estimate for a non-insurance job, we say up front whether there is a fee.

Still have a question?

Call or text and the owner answers. If it is an emergency, say so and we roll.
